Babylon 5 Rpg 1st Edition Books

Well, I know similar questions have been asked, but I was wondering 2 things:

1- As I being a new player to 2E( Never played 1E), how much of a task is it converting the fact books to 2E?
2- Also, if I can get each 1E fact book for under 10 U.S. dollars each, are they worth picking up, even though when I run a game it will be 2E?

For less than 10 dollars each I'd say so, the fluff will be worth that alone.

One more question. From what I've heard, the techno-mage 1E book can't be converted to 2E. Is this true? If so, why?

Mainly due to the fact that the base classes in 2E had 10 levels while in 1E they had 20. However in S&P they had a conversion for the technomages, but you still need the technomages sourcebook to use it. If you can get it cheap and plan to use technomages in your game then get it. If not there is plenty of fluff in there that still makes it worthwhile.

there are S&P articles that cover the 'Mages, and there are a fue of us that is converting 1st edition stuff over to 2nd edition
