B5 Ship bases?

My Army of Light fleet, showing Mongoose flying stands under a variety of ships.

The Omega has two stands, partly because the position for a single stand is too far behind the centre of gravity but mainly because the model has been modified to allow the centre section to rotate and the forward section needs the support. :)

There's no room for a pivoting head between the main hull and lower wing of the G'Quan. But with the hole drilled a little deeper, the ship stays reasonably straight on the stem, especially since the structure in the middle of the lower wing helps keep the ship in line.

The stems are glued straight onto the Sharlin and the Hyperions, which lie flat during transport.

The Avioki is special; instead of a stem, its lower fin plugs straight into a slot in the base.

The fighters are all based on pins cut to random heights to give a 'break formation and attack' sort of feel. Depending on the 'strength' of the fighters, I based them in different numbers. Shadow fighters are 2 per base, Firebolts are 3 per, Black Omegas and T-bolts are 4, and Aurora's are 5 per. This accomplished 2 things: 1, it gives the impression that it doesn't take many Shadow Fighters to take on a group of Starfuries and 2: I can stretch the fighters I have fewer of further.

All the insignias are real modern fighter units, with a few exceptions. Auroras are either F16 or F22 squadrons and Thunderbolts are A10 squadrons. Because I had only a few Firebolts, I used squadron insignias from Babylon 5. And of course there is the Black Omegas.

Damn thats well organised :) Love the fighter bases - they are really great 8)

oh man, those look great... mine are scattered throughout several boxes in my room somewhere... they need all a good overhaul and some care and lovin'...

Very nice mass of metal my AK Brother!

Btw, I see a fencer lives at your place--that's an Epee and a Sabre in the upper right isn't it?

Thanks, though it still needs a lot of work. It hurts my head to think of the amount of money tied up in on that table :( Really wish there were others in AK that played. I think I need to get my son into ACtA...

Thats an Epee in the back, btw. It belongs to my wife.

I TOTALLY feel your pain L33t. I have one person here and we don't really do b5 much. Plus I've dumped prob. as much as you into fleets that are still in boxes, bags, and spread out on my model table.
