you are correct, they did say that, they also said they couldn't have a third party making them. Implying strongly it was only ever likely to be re-launched if mongoose could make it profiteable. As no-one envisaged mongoose making enoguh models for that, it all seemed pretty dead in the water.
As for whether it was a scam or not. You would have to ask whether the anouncement made a wad of profit or not as people rushed to buy, even at discount there is the implication that mongoose made a nice pile of money. The more cynical probably didn't bat an eyelid when the announcement was made.

I can see what you mean, I'm the eternal optimist lol, I do look at it though from a company perspective, they had to try and make money from something they may well have thought was dead in the water themselves.
The question of whether or not its a scam though is down to opinion

I can to be honest see both sides here and I cant say I was overly surprised when folks started getting a bit miffed at having panic bought loads of stuff to be then told that the range was coming back but again I do have to point out that Mongoose DID say right from the word go they might be coming back via a 3rd party next year (and that might still be about right timewise and if its a bit earlier then from my standpoint, great, so much the better.
When you get right down to it, it WAS the playerbase who paniced and kept coming out with 'mongoose are lying the game is gonna die, no more minis ever, DOOOOOOOM!!!' lines so I dont really think its fair to blame Mongoose. And when you get right down to it how many of us bought stuff we wouldnt have bought sooner or later ANYWAY, just with a 20% discount. Yes Mongoose made a profit out of it I dont doubt but then again bear in mind the sheer level of demand may well be a large part of the reason theyve been able to get this deal worked out.
In the end, the minis or coming back and this is a good thing, so guys stop being such cynics and take it as the good news that it is. Would you prefer we DONT get the minis line back?
