B5 Open Day - Defence of Sector 49

Hi guys,

We are currently marshalling our forces, getting ready for the Open Day this coming weekend, and it looks like it will be a cracker!

We have two ongoing events for CTA, the Bring and Battle, and the Defence of Sector 49 mini-campaign. Neither will require your full attention throughout the day (unless you want them to!), so there will be plenty of time to dip into BF Evo: B5, do some roleplaying, and chat up Miss Christian (!). You can even switch between the Bring and Battle and the campaign, as you see fit!

For the Bring and Battle, you just need 5 Raid points of any fleet you like. For the campaign, you will need 5 Skirmish points, and you can see how the games will shape up below;

The Earth Alliance and its Allies
The following fleets will fight on the side of the Earth Alliance;

Earth Alliance (Early Years, Third Age and Crusade)
Narn Regime
Interstellar Alliance
Abbai Matriarchy
Brakiri Syndicracy
Vree Conglomerate
Raiders
Vorlons
Psi Corps

The Coalition
The following fleets will fight on the side of the Coalition;

Dilgar Imperium
Minbari Federation
Centauri Republic
Drazi Freehold
Gaim Intelligence
pak’ma’ra
Raiders
Shadows
Drakh

Combined fleets will not be allowed.

Finding an Enemy
Simply note your name and fleet on the Campaign Board at the start of the day, then make sure you are at the board at the start of every round you wish to take part in (you need not fight all day, as there are plenty of other events going on!). You will quickly be assigned a table and opponent, and then you can go off and fight! The Campaign Board will also give you details on currently held Strategic Targets, so you can see who is currently winning!

Scenarios
Rounds one, two and three will have random scenarios, rolled by yourself or your opponent on the chart below;

D6 Scenario
1-2 Annihilation*
3-4 Call to Arms
5-6 Space Superiority

* Use Victory Points as normal to determine the winner, if one fleet is not completely wiped out.

Round four will use the Call to Arms scenario – however, every player will select just one ship from their fleet, and you will all play on the same table (we may split this into two tables if a lot of people take part)!

Strategic Targets
Mounted on the Campaign Board will be a system map of Sector 49, showing all the Strategic Targets you are fighting over. These will change hands at the end of each round, showing you just who is winning!

When you complete your game, find the campaign co-ordinator, and let him know which side won in your game. All results will be recorded and reflected through the Strategic Targets.

The side that has the most Strategic Targets at the end of the day will be declared the winner!

Round 4 - must the one ship be a Skirmish level ship? If yes, the Shadows are unable to compete; if no, it's going to be interesting to watch people's faces if someone's 5 point Skirmish fleet includes a Battle level ship, which he then picks as his one ship. :D

Yah, looks like Liati+Demos will be order of the day again. Unless Drakh Carrier can be your "1" ship...

Minbari seem to be on the wrong side? MAybe they should be swapped with Psi Corps or Raiders?

No, no requirement for it to be a Skirmish level ship. . .

Never, ever trust a Minbari. . .

Seriously, thought it might be interesting to mix up the sides a little. . .

Fair enough - evil Minbari, must be warrior caste.

Doesn't that make it exactly the same as Call To Arms, starting 36" apart instead of 24"? The only difference would be that in Call To Arms, the highly unlikely event that someone gets wiped out but still wins on VPs. Other than that statistical irrelevancy (has this ever actually happened to anyone?), they are exactly the same!

Hmm maybe the train isn't as pricey as I thought. What time does it all start...? ;)

10am, Sir, though games start throughout the day if you are not up at the crack of dawn :)

If you are up at the crack of dawn I'll be at Swindon Train Station at about 8 am, illing to run a walking bus to the pre open day breakfast club at the local cafe, then onwards to Mongoose Hall :lol:

Depends on where they move to, but yes, it has been annoying when things have been at the Croft.

Though I am extending my 'pre load of mass quantities' this time, takeaway pizza is the plan for Friday night.

And of course our adoption of the BReakfast club motto from "Run Fat Boy Run"

"How dare you interrupt my full english breakfast with extra breakfast? "
