This has nothing to do with vassal, I roll like that all the time (Well, not really, but our Centauri player tends to roll results like this - oh, and his biggest ship always get´s critted into uselessness on turn one, but that´s another story...)

The vorlon empire is avenged! After a rather ignoble defeat to the Narn (cursed dice!) with the loss of a destroyer and Transport in exchange for a Ka'tan and a crippled/skeletoned G'quan (game ended due to urgent need of sleep), a rematch ended 47:22 Vorlons:Narn, with the glowy white wingaling team beating the marsupials at a supply ships scenario game -

1 space liner, 4 Thentus & 5 Ka'tans lost for 1 vorlon destroyer. Makes a huuuge difference being able to get into range on turn 1, and you can out-turn narn at close range! In fairness, pestilence was averaging 1 hit per laser cannon per turn, though, whereas destroyers were killing/crippling a ka'tan or thentus each.

Fleets were: Thentus x 4, Ka'tan x 6 vs. Destroyer x 2, Transport x 1

You sure?

Truly random "random number generator" is bloody hard to do with computers...

I'm starting to have doubts wether Vassals number generator is good enough or could it do with improvement.

If it uses Javas built-in generator then odds are good it is NOT truly random...

We've also had issues with the measuring tape in Vassal - (or at least in the last game we did). We were taking the inch measurement as an overestimate (so you call it an inch the moment it changes from 0 to 1) but a quick illustration by Kat showed that it never reads 0, so we were taking all our measurements an inch short.

I don't much like the tape anyways, as it's not persistent - and it would be nice to keep some sort of persistent scale on the table when you're zoomed in and out.

i have neve rplayed an inch short - basically measure out, all of 8 is like 7.1-8 inches, as soon as it changes to 9 then its above 8 inches.
as we have no weaopns with half ranges this isnt a problem.

No, but if like me you took the tape to read /over/ what it was (so that it was reading 7 up to 7.99999) then you needed to be more careful in measuring.

It's a free for download web client that lets you play board games online against other people.

Do a search for the Vassal engine on google, and look for the thread on the ACTA module on this forum.

Sounds like my rolls as the Vorlons when I fought TrueBlue's Shadows.

"Lightning Cannon? That's a Sparkplug Cannon!"
