B:EVO Fantasy???

One of my favorite games happens to be Mordheim, and I would love to see the rules ported to B:EVO.

Has anyone done any work on fantasy armies using the B:EVO rules?

Depends. A concept list might be come to existance here in a few days, but I have a formatting job to do for one of the several projects going on...

If you want to play Battlefield evolution Fantasy....
Why not just buy Chronopia?
The rules are very similar since it and Warzone were one of Andy Chambers sources of inspiration when writing SST (Actually truth be told I think the Chronopia rules are a little more elegant in places), its actually designed for fanatsy gaming, and the stuffs readily available at PrinceAugust http://www.princeaugust.ie/target_games/

Why not? A skirmish level Fantasy game....

Call it:
Dungeon Quest
A band of adventurers versus the denzins of a dungeon seeking gold and glory. Players get to choose their roles in this, one playing the adventurers, the other playing the Dungeon Keeper, guiding his minions in defense of his lair.

No disservice to Mongoose, but the system needs some work before it will work in a Fantasy setting that has high levels of Close Combat. The system is too basic for such a system and characters would get mauled in a hurry. I'd recommend mighty armies if you want a mass combat game but it's no longer MP's game. I'd recommend you checkout Reaper's Warlord system. It's a fast paced, squad focused fantasy game with heroes/monsters/etc.

We have looked at BF Evo for Fantasy, and you hit the nail right on the head - the close combat needs work for people rushing in with swords and shields, rather than bullets and bayonets.

However, BF Evo is also a very modular system (we'll be demonstrating that side of it with Spec Ops, with a transplanted damage system), and there is no reason the same could not be done with close combat.

We'll likely take a swing at this ourselves in a year or two, and someone else is welcome to have a crack at it sooner!

Curses! Must resist the evil temptation to do a Conan Evo system...

the swords ant shield problem could be countered by giving units traits/ weapons traits.

a good source of minis for this is Caesar Miniatures there 1/72 and you get about 40 minis per £5 they do humans / dwarves / orcs / goblins undead and elves so far.
