Hi.
Recently, there has been a new setting added to the TF multiverse - one which, through its existence, opens the door to all the others.
This setting is the city of Axiom Nexus - emissary city of the TransTech Cybertronians.
On a Cybertron which never suffered through the horrors of the Great War, the inhabitants have evolved to become the 'Transcendant Technomorphs', and have taken it upon themselves to investigate and catalogue the countless millions of Universal Streams in which Cybertronic life may be found.
Also, while most of the planet is off-limits to those they consider 'Lowtechs', Axiom Nexus is the exception. Welcome to (almost) all dimensional travellers from across the TF multiverse, the city is at the crossroads of every type of Cybertronian - from those from the Primax (ie G1/BW) continuity family, to those from others such as the Aurex (Unicron Trilogy), Tyran (2007 Movie) and Malgus (Transformers: Animated) groups of realities.
However, access to Axiom Nexus is restricted, so as to keep out especially powerful individuals (such as Primes and Megatrons) or items (such as the Matrix) - while the 'lowtechs' can do as they please, the TransTechs aren't interested in letting things get messy.
And, of course, the TransTechs themselves are not immune to power-plays, political disputes and factionalisms - and some of them are downright, well... let's say morally ambiguous.
In RP terms, I believe that Axiom Nexus would serve as an ideal starter setting for a TF RPG.
Not only would it allow the use of a wide range of Cybertronian templates, it would give them a viable reason to mix and match together... and get up to all sorts of mischief!
Indeed, one could also choose to RP as one of the TransTechs themselves - either to keep the peace, mingle with the lowtechs, or have fun with the scheming and politicking among the TransTech hierarchy.
Add-on source books could then jump out from this central hub - with one for each major continuity family. (For example, a Sourcebook: Primax would let people role-play in a Generation 1 setting - either as a local being or as a slider from Axiom Nexus.)
Indeed, one could even do a sourcebook for the TransTechs themselves, to let people either use them on their own world, or jump (authorized or not) to other timelines.
Does this sound like it might be a half-decent idea?
