I wonder is there any chance that we can finally get some new sculpts that actually put intermediate-sized ships - e.g. White Stars, Drazi Sunhawks - at the right scale to match the rest of the ACTA line, rather than the existing over-sized models...?

They are to scale with the other ships their size, vorchans, etc. I don't think the different scales are that bad. After all, fighters are HUGE!

Well with the fleet action moulds going with them I may have a chance to do a nice display fleet!!! Which actually means I can get on with some painting and put some pics up here (YAY!!!!)

Well the fighters don't really count do they? All the standard fighters - e.g. starfuries, nials - are a deliberate compromise, and stuff like the WS fighters were just made up for the game (and perhaps they shouldn't have been?)
I agree that most of the minis aren't that bad in terms of scale - it's only about maybe a half-dozen to a dozen different models that really stand out. If I'm going to take pride in my painted fleets it would be much nicer if all the ships actually looked right when placed next to each other... *sighs*

I said a few disparaging things about what the announcement meant (remember the ACTA, RIP thread?). Well, I get about two idiot stars for those comments, and Matt can apply them personally with a large stout stick if he so prefers.
Done in a timely fashion, too -- the damage to the line has been fairly minimal. Time to start up the bandwagon again!

Bringing miniature production mends a lot of bridges. Hopefully the ACtA community is stronger now because of it and we can all look forward to many late nights of geeking out as we pit our favorite fleets against one another.

Well I personally can't wait, before the minis vanishing I was planning a shadow fleet, but now with our best new hope (I couldn't help it ) I can do a few fleets and not panic about things going AWOL again.

Matt's announcement was very good news indeed. Looking forward to seeing what IWM will do with the ships. I've gotten some of their newest CBT Mechs recently and they are quite nice. If they get the same sort of quality out of the B5 molds, then this could very well work well all the way around.

While happy about the news, i kinda dread the day they actually return.
If they're recast in better quality, I wont be able to resist the temptation to buy more and more ships Maybe even phase out the badly cast ones.
Hope it happens after I've managed to get some spare cash. =P
