Attack Simulator - Excel

I started getting back into CTA a month or so ago and was having a heck of a time figuring out just what sort of weapon was good against what. To solve my little dilema, I made an Excel sheet to simulate beam damage. Evenutally I tacked on a lot more and made it cover everything. It is nowhere near professional quality and I never intended to release it, but things are so quite here it's almost depressing.

There are two main tabs, one for beams and one for non-beams. Enter the stats for the weapon you are attacking with and the stats for the target you are attacking. Hit the calculate button and wait for the results. On the right side, it will count how many times that damage or crew number appeared. You can use those data to do your own statistical analysis (Loglogistic seems to fit fairly well) or just look at the quick and dirty numbers the sheet spits out.

To compare two weapons (and use the graphs), go to the MiniTab sheet and name the weapon in the yellow field. Return to the weapon sheet with the data and Paste either 1 or 2, corresponding with the weapon name. This was how I had to have the data formatted to compare in MiniTab, but I later added the graphs so I could post it here.

Each time you calculate, it simulates 1,000 firings of that weapon against that target.

I have been using this program to help console myself. My girlfriend has just gone 2 entire battles without taking more than 3 damage from me. She had played as shadows and I failed nearly every single stealth roll. It was the least fun I've had in a while. At least statistically, things should not always work out that way.

Let me know if you have any trouble, questions or feedback.

P.S. Looks like I can't upload the file directly to the forums here. I'll look for other hosting tonight after work and upload it then. Sorry about that. It should be here in the next 12 hours or so. Until then you can just dream of space battles gone by.

I'm looking forward to posting it too. I've just had trouble locating a good file host I can use from work. For now, if anyone wants to give it a go, just drop me your email in a PM and I'll email it to you for now.

It's a great distraction for a Friday afternoon.

Sorry for the delay.

I did post that and my Campaign Generator. There is a new thread located here:

I figured that this thread was dead enough and I might as well start a new one. Seems like the new one got a lot of views at least.
