Well I've eyed Traveller for the better part of twenty years, but you can thank the cover art for Aslan in getting me to finally pick up some of the books. Well that, and a lucky find of the core book in a used book store.
But, despite all that I like in the book there are a few issues i have. Mostly it's in the editing of the product. Given the price, and the lack of all the shininess one sees in similiar products from other mainstream and indy companies, I'd expect more quality control for a fourty dollar sourcebook that's still black and white.
One example is in the subsector section of the book. There seems to be an entire page of the Pax Naulin portion. Pages 171 to 173 to be specific. There's a couple of other instances of information missing, or being oddly placed in comparison to what was writted before it but that's the most glaring one I can remember
I mean, I can handle mispelled or misused words every few pages or so. But, to have what seems to be an entire page of information just not be there is kind of irksome. Combined with all the other errors it does leave me thinking the book should have been thirty instead of fourty dollars.
That and I'm unclear on which territory stat you keep as it applies to your eventual social standing.
Do you add your ancestral territory to any territory gained from career events, but you don't have any unless you take a grant? Or, do you only keep the ancestral if you're a first son, and everyone else starts at zero after the rite of passage?
And, can someone explain how rite of passage is supposed to work if only one person is being an Aslan? Does he make two characters just up to that point?
And now again, great job despite my complaints. It already has me stoked for the Vargr book.
