Artillery targeting

The rule reads that *someone* on your side needs LOS to the target. Is this necessary if I want to use the artillery to deny an area? Basically call a shot on someone's head on the first turn I have LOS, then continue to drop artillery shots on the same basic target point *without* LOS in later turns.

To answer your question please state if you are talking about a weapon with the artillery trait, or the Supporting Artillery special of Command assets?

Or are you taking about the additional artillery rule from the A.D.Publishing "Add On"?

The usage was specific to a weapon with the Artillery Trait, as we had a British Mortar team shelling a rooftop full of Axis troops. While we had friendly troops in LOS, shelling the rooftop was entirely within the rules, but once the friendlies in LOS were gone, what keeps the Mortar from dumping more rounds on the same target?

I could see doing the same with called Artillery strikes, though the target would need to be worth the 50 points a SHOT.

As a related question, we missed where it says which armor facing of a vehicle is used for artillery strikes. Mines are mentioned, but we couldn't find a reference for artillery or infantry-carried anti-tank charges.

See page 21 WaW Artillery Weapons: "Artillery fire allows some weapons to attack targets that are hidden and not in Line of Sight..."
No LoS necessary, keep on firing, however, please read also Page 17, there must be a valid target (aka miniature).
Only under the UN-official Add On rule LoS from any friendly unit is necessary.

NO! Quote from Page 42 Supporting Artillery: "...but the initial Impact Point must be in the unit’s Line of Sight". So LoS IS always necessary for Supporting Artillery called in by a Command unit!

Please read the PLAYER’S GUIDE under "What facing do I use for armour for vehicles that have been hit by mines, bombs or artillery?". Infantry charges are resolved using the facing the charge originates.

Question for Agis: Is supporting Artillery affetcted by the Night fighting advanced rules other than +1 Target, +1 Kill?

Yes all rules from Page 38 apply! However, since there is no "range" for Supporting Artillery that can't be halved...
