Army points

Mongoose
Hello,
Sorry, i didn't find a topic talking about the army points, so i create one (if there is one somewhere, could you give me the link please? :P )

Well, i'm working on a 1940 French Army List and i have problems to calculate the points for each units. The method used by MP is secret or we can know how to do that?
(I think i'm going to work as well on a German list for 1940, if i can't find one somewhere)

Thank you !

Estimate based on similar stats and then playtest, playtest, playtest.

Formulas like +X pts for ability Y never work anyway and are more of guidelines anyway. And if such is created then it tends to get more attention than good old fashioned playtesting.

Agreed! 8) Playtesting and comparing units is the way! Painful, work intensive but hopefully rewarding in the end!

@Nimitz: The topic was already discussed for countless times, just search this forum or the Evo.Comand forum a bit.

There is NO secret formular!

I totally disagree. That's the number one reason most games have imbalances and issues with munchy units. the problem with most formulas is they try to apply a static X point value to attributes rather than a sliding scale or percentages to offset other abilities.

Oh ok, i didn't find any thing about that
Ok, then, i just have to test...Thanks for the reply.

I will post the results of my work, maybe one or two players would be interested.

Someone worked on a 1940 German list?

For the early germans it is not very complicated.
For your vehicules choices, Agis did the compendium. In this book you will find the date most vehicules entered in service (a lot of them are before 1941)so you will have a lot of choices.

now for the troops, they where practically the same except for their weapons like the sturmgewer-44 or the MG-42.
I'm not sure if the panzershrek and panzerfaust where in use in 1940 so you will have to make a little search.

And if you want a big battle, with planes, you need the book Warbirds of WW2 in wich the date the planes entered service are in too.

And thats about it.

Have bloody fun
