Armor units

Hi,

Just wondering how you guys handle the Armor units(I mean units numbering more than one Armor). The rulebook states that:
-All models from a unit must be within 6 inches from the unit leader.
-All models from a unit must perform the same action.
But what if the unit leader is destroyed? If the unit is at more than 50% of it's original strength, do you nominate a new unit leader? If the unit is at less than 50% of it's original strength, is the unit out of command and stuck for the rest of the game?

I added armour unts in the Vehicle Compendiums. The Pacific War supplement will also feature them.

By default apply all the normal rules of units and unit leader from the Battlefield Evolution rulebopok (Page 10) to them.

I would also use the following houserule unofficially:
"If a unit only consists of vehicles it can never be out of command as described on page 10 of the Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook. The unit must maintain unit coherency as described but can fight otherwise normal even when reduced to less than half the models it started the battle with."

Exactly right Wargoat, the normal unit rules are used. The interesting thing about tank units shooting at one another is that all of the tank guns have a 3" FZ.

In practice this could mean spreading out so that only one tank would be hit by an enemy tank unit's fire, but then it would be the unit leader or whichever special tank could be seen. (If within MG range this doesn't work as well since each tank will usually have plenty of MG dice to sacrifice in order to split fire.) What I've seen commonly is that tank units tend to bunch up and shooting works just like infantry vs infantry. Give it a try and let us know what you think.
