Are even the PDFs black&white now?!? :(

Adept

Mongoose
I just looked at preview .pdf's of Dara Happa Stirs and the Dragonewt book.

I've been happily buying the mongoose books in pdf format, as I don't want to buy the ugly black and white paper versions. The new previews look like they are in black and white too!

Somebody enlighten me please.

Oh man :(

The art & layout look like they were created in colour. Why not publish them in PDF form so that we can enjoy them on the computer screen even if not in hardbound print?

I can't imagine it being cheaper to publish B&W PDF's.

I'm afraid this will probably put me off buying them now.

It would be a pity that being colour is tha main thing, as both of these books are very good, expecially for those that like Glorantha. Newts is my favourite race book (not that I dislike the others, it is just that it is superb) and Stirs is a great combination sourcebook/campaign.

It's not the main thing, but it really does bug me.

I was prepared to (and did) pay for mongoose's hard cover books since they had high production values. Nice glossy colour pages, and all that.

When the printers went B&W my personal sense of value scale tipped the wrong way. I handled some of the books at my local RPG store, and wasn't prepared to pay the price for the "illegal photocopy" look.

I was still happy to buy them as PDF's and make my own arrangements. Still a fair deal.

I can't understand, and don't stomach turning the PDF's black and white, when they could just as easily be in colour (it's obvious that the art and layout has been done in colour, then converted to gray-scale).

This feels like an insult, and a really strange, nay dumb business decision.

Once (if) the PDFs or the books return to colour, I shall return as a customer. Now I'll just have to do without the books, since I will not support this. Sorry, but that's how it is.

They aren't! They are all done as b/w!

Ok, my apologies then.

I'm confused though, it surely looks like the art is in colour and then converted to grayscale. The backgrounds also look like the parchment coloured ones I see in things like Magic of Glorantha and the Ralios PDF.

I'm a bit confused now...
