Hi

I was given this set by a friend.
http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=2185

Anyone know how the green compares to olive drab and how the grays would work for the Germans ?

Thanks

Hmmm, nice friend 8)

They have a color chart in their downloadable catalog but I didn't see that particular green listed. You might want to give it a look. It might pass for olive drab [ with a black undercoat ?? ]

Not sure about the grays. Germans ain't my thing.

I'm not sure about the green but the Greys are too light. The uni color you're looking for is "Feldgrau" which has a greenish hue. I would consider Vallejo's German Fieldgrey (number 830). You can lighten it a bit or highlight with Green Grey (number 886). Because "feldgrau" translates roughly "field gray" everyone assumes it's a pure gray. From the re-enactors outfits I've seen (and they can be a rather pedantic bunch) it needs some green.

Thanks. Could the grays be used for anything German ?
Wish I knew about the green. Got a jeep and a a halftrack and 2 Shermans I'm itching to build

I couldn't find a color chart. But basically, german vehicles were dark gray up til midwar (ca 1943) where they changed to dark yellow. On the other hand Hollywood germans always have gray vehicles. I guess you could use the two ghost greys for vehicles if you wanted to do a more "Signs and Portents" approach

The darker gray might work as a highlight color over German Gray, I'm not sure.
