Anybody got world at war evo..?

No problem with the medic rules, i mean 1940`s it was just a Bandage etc, unlike today with soliders trained, and with all carrying drugs etc...

Which leads into the future, with state of the art medical stuff, so i`m fine with that, also a ww2 solider now has a luck of 6+ ( Armour )

Cheers

It does seem like the Tiger's gun is powerful. For comparative curiousity, wait is the hit/kill scores for the Shermans and its armor?

Sorry, can't tell too much...

Why not? Isn't the book out?

Oh, and while I knew the Thompson was phased out of production during 1944, anybody who could get their hands on one, kept it, and it was actually still in use in the 1950s in Korea (My father fought tooth and nail to keep his until finally forced near the end of his stint in Korea to check the old warhorse in and take an M-3). So I still think it should have been a part of the book.

For those who are interested, the three big reasons for the switch to the M-3 were:
  1. The Thompson cost around $45 each to make (after removing some features such as the compensator and the ability to attach the 50 rd drum magazine), compared to the $20 to make an M-3.
  2. The M-3 was lighter and easier to mass-produce (some where North of 600,000 by wars end).
  3. The M-3 had a slower rate of fire (approx. 400 rds per minute) which helped the shooter maintain control and accuracy of sustained bursts.
However, if you talk with most WWII vets who tried both, many feel the Thompson was the best firearm of the war. Personally, I would give that distinction to the Sturmgewehr 44.

Please tell me the STG-44 made it in the book for the Jerries. I'm not sure I could take both of my favorite firearms MIA from the WaW book.

@agis

medics can be house ruled (added save once per turn etc)

grenades are harder to house rule in - can you post your submitted grenade rules?

found this in SST playtest army list but no rules on how to use them within context of a squad

Frag grenade 10” D10 Lethal Zone/2”, Slow

In SST a grenade was just a weapon you could use in place of your model's regular one. In BFEvo thrown grenades could only be used in buildings and were pretty damned lethal.

Yeah, but you still need some reasons to buy it, or?
(These are decision for Matt: basically he is in charge what can be told and what not.)

StG-44 is in! And with good weapon stats! The amount of fire a fully equipped SS squad can lay down is absolutely devastating (BUT it all comes at high points cost...).

I was was a bit unclear: I did not statted Grenades, Matt and I just talked about them. Only the Medics were done!

However if you want to use grenades use the following:

Generic Frag Grenade (all armies): 6”, D6, Lethal Zone/2”, Slow
Should cost 3 points per soldier to equip them.
Use at own risk! (No really playtested...)

would need a scatter roll i guess too - 1D6+1 in confined space e.g. bunker, armoured car etc...

I'll look at rules of engagement for some more pointers or maybe even 40k!

You can of course use the artillery scatter rules of Waw, I would however not recommend it!
Just presume that the scatter that might occur will be insignificant at this short range...

The topics you raise are basically the reasons why it is not included in the game. Waw is pretty abstract, these additional layers of complexity are just not in the game.
If you want a more detailed system RoE is more suited...

Now I'm glad I'm painting up another 10 troops in an SS camo scheme.

True - if you are interested in more detail, we are currently working on a 'mod' for the BF Evo rules that breaks the system down further to allow, for example, the differences between individual rifles. Grenades will also appear.

Well I'm glad I have an 'Official' unofficial ruling for grenades as I need them for Chinese Grenadier squads in Korea.

Chinese assault units could be very weird, two squads with 'Burp Guns' (PPSH41 SMG's) and two with grenades - nothing else just grenades.

Also I like the idea of having a Stalingrad supplement.

Russian Conscript Squad

10 Men
First Squad Moisin-Nagant Rifles
Second Squad Clip of Bullets

mathew
this sounds like a useful addition - look forward to it

Ali in Indonesia reports he got his today. Does this mean that we can expect to see it soon in the US? My LGS has no clue when it will arrive (or so they tell me).

physical quality is good - layout is good - B&W tho which is fine by me for a wargame rule book (but not for an RPG!)

I can only agree here. Decent Softcover, good binding.

The only problem I see is B&W. The book was planned in colour so Tom and I provided good, crisp 300 dpi colour photos.
Most of these come out too dark in B&W.

Otherwise all is fine.
