Antimatter Weapons

I just bought Ships of the Galaxy and loving it. But one thing has me stumped.

Antimatter Weapons... what the heck does that do.

All the special rules are explained in small blurps or indexed back (usually back to the core), and even sometimes they reprint them for ease of use (like the Mass Drivers). A few are not explained but are self evident, like Medlab (if I recall B5 kind of has that special feature itself). So then again, what is special about Antimatter weapons?

Did I miss it, is it described somewhere where my blind spot always lands? Some clarification would be nice and greatly appreciated.

I don't have the book so can't reference anything, but from what I remember from generic sci-fi matter + anti-matter = baddness. Probably incredibly destructive, but not used much due to the possibility of killing yourself along with it. Probably also banned along with rail-guns or those asteroid bombardment things the Centari use to attack the Narn homeworld.

I finally got my Ship Builder's Guide from my friend, it was explained in it. Still would have been nice if they reprinted the blurp material or atleast indexed it for us. Someone who did not buy SBG or has not read it yet would be lost or confused.

Dont think the rail gun has been banned, I think the EA use them quite a bit as do the Grome (i think).

Those asteroid bombardment things were mass drivers.

I think I remember hearing about it in AoG that anti-matter tech while a destructive weapon was abandoned by the Minbari because it lacked effective range so it was only on their oldest ships. One such ship was found by the Vree who adopted the weapon signature style and became anti-matter nuts.
