The stellar positions seen at the Traveller Map site and in the Wiki are derived from the old DGP "Vilani & Vargr" dotmap, and the UWP listings in the Wiki are usually acceptable, though Ingukrax (aka Arzul) sector was apparently generated with the "developed" modifiers turned up to 11, and as a result has a higher population than any two Imperial sectors put together. I have a sporadic campaign set in Arzul, and my preparations for it involved reducing a lot of those populations.
The sectors of the Julian Protectorate are quite a mixed bag, with each member nation of the Protectorate being distinct in its social structures. It makes Julian space a bit difficult to pin down for overall feel. The mixture of Human, Vargr, and H'khar (and who knows how many other minor races) is a potentially volatile one, with some of the member nations having figured it out and some not. Then there are the neighbors, ranging from several Vargr states to spinward and core-trailing, the Vargr-hating Gashikan Empire to core-spinward, and, across a buffer zone of independent worlds to trailing, the K'kree. Powder keg just *starts* to describe the area...
