Another Marauder question

Mongoose
Im way to broke right now (As always :D), and my Marauder loving mates spunked all his cash for this month on Battle Pope comics and a Marauder platoon, so neither one of us is in any state to buy the MI army book, so;

1) how do Marauder priority levels work? (Im assuming they get access to missiles or something at higher PL's?

2) Can you get a chas in a marauder platoon, or is it the reserve of the PAMI?

3) Is the MI army book actually worth buying? Or would it be better to stick with whats in the book and get some of the funner ones like the Pathfinders and Roughnecks / Klendathu etc?

Many thanks!

1> If I remember correctly.. you're PL2. I know for a fact there is no PL1 for a Marauder Platoon.

2> Wish I had my book infront of me...umm.. sure?

3> Yes, you should go get the book. It updates the squads and gives you new toys to play with...like the BigFoot.

Sweet thanks for that Hiro!
Makes alot of sense for them to be locked in at a priority level thinking about it :D
Gonna have to pick up that book in the next round of spending to i suppose lol.

You can take PL2 or 3 Marauder platoons, with PL3 having access to more support. IIRC, CHAS can be taken by a Marauder platoon, and like Hiro said, the army book is a must.

Marauder platoons are always PL2.... never 1 or 3.
They only have one set of support options....no level 3 option. They can get the chas (up to 3) and missiles, dropboats etc... No skinny advisors etc.. though.

Yup Marauder Platoons only come at PL2.

From fleet you can get
Flamberge heavy ground attack missile 0-1
Sarissa space combat missile 0-1
Slinshot 0-3
Thunderbolt TAC fighter 0-3

Command assaets
Pee-Wee 0-2
Chas 0-3
Falcon missiles (any jav can have these)
TAC UAV 0-1
Heroic traits 0-1 model may have 25 points.

As for the MI book, yeah its the one that contains the main forces of the MI, however it will be obselete as soon as SST:Evo comes out.... However if you look around on ebay or ask in traveling man or FP you might be able to get it for £5 or less.

 As I type this on an "obselete" Windows 98 PC.

I know its got the main forces for the MI in it, its the MI army book for crying out loud!
Managed to have a flick through it today, and I've gotta say its about 100% better than the Arachnid army book, I might have been a bit more willing to throw money at Mongoose books wise if I picked that one up first :D

Thanks for the help everyone, I might not be thanking you quite so much in a couple of weeks when I've had my arse handed to me courtesy of all new gimmick for the MI though :D

Well, if the probem persists, threaten them with either:

A) Smashing them over the head with a mug

or

B) Smacking someone upside the head with the verge of a telephone book.

Wargames can get very tesnse, so give them a warning or two first. Also, you may want to threaten rules designers if the rules get too 'out there'. I wouldn't do it, but like Lt. Razak says in the movie, well violence, vicotrs write history, conflict, etc. I'm sure the guys at mongosoe will understand.

Absolutely.

I'd add that if a player has enough points to add lots of support, then they just need to field a second platoon type at PL 3 that allows the type of support desired. The force PL is equal to the highest PL platoon so if you mate a Marauder platoon with a Power Suit Platoon with a PL3 to broaden the support options, then the force is PL3. Of course that isn't a Marauder only platoon, but then I don't see much of a difference between a Marauder platoon once they start adding support and a Marauder platoon with some power suits nearby and other support.

I've always prefered a PAMI platoonwith lots of marauders in it (LT and NCOs). Just seemed the better option. More fun putting the units together too. In a 'real' army, you'd never put all of your eggs in one basket like that.... comand staff carrying the big guns=target too good to miss. But if you are fighting bugs then ranged weapons aren't the problem and all that armour is pretty useful in close combat.
