Another Elric Cult Question

If I take Divine Training as a gift and use it to train 2 skills to 100% does it cost me 2 points of dedicated POW, or 3?

I'm not sure if the costs are meant to be cumulative or not, but I think they are. I'm sure I read it somewhere but can't remember where.

I would say 3.
Page 121 for Chaos Veneration and gifts says 1 point for the first (in the skill increase category) and 2 points for the second gift.
Taking the gift twice IMO means it's a second gift and you should pay 3 (1+2).

Yes this is correct. Raising 1 skill costs 1 POW, raising two costs an additional 2 for 3 in total. If you were to raise 3 then it would cost 1+2+3=6.

Does this also apply if you take the second Divine Training from a different cult?

Nope. Each cult is treated as its own entity.

But GMs need to manage the mini-maxing that players are wont to get up to as fits their campaign.

I thought you could take the gift once and applied it to multiple skills, but I agree with you that if you take it twice the cost stacks.

If this is the one you mean:
Disciple Increase
Raise a skill important to the path by 50%. No skill can increase
beyond 100% with this Gift and the skill chosen must not

It canonly be applied to one skill per gift purchase.

No. I'm talking about Divine Training:

Divine Training Raise a cult skill to 100%. All 1 POW the first skill, 2 POW for the
second, 3 for a third and so forth.

From the Gifts & Compulsions table in Cults of the YK.

The entry 'suggests' that multiple skills can be raised.

That's certainly not the intention. The training applies to one skill, not several. You can raise different skills by using the gift, but it costs the POW as already outlined.

Yeah, my bad, poorly phrased post. So to make sure I understand this correctly:

I am creating a Melnibonean Priest who has the rank of Citizen of Yagala with 5 points of POW dedicated to Terhali. He has 2 compulsions, Demonic Fervour and Lust for Terhali. He has elected to take the second gift available due to his rank. I've chosen Divine Training that I've bought with 3 points of POW and applied to Language (High Speech) and *edit* Lore Terhali *edit* both of which are now 100%. The other gift was Witch Sight at it's base score. If I gain another rank in the Cult I only have 1 POW left to purchase a gift, or I can increase my available POW by sacrificing CHA through tattooing or dedicating more POW.

Is that right? *edit* Or does each skill you increase require it's own gift, i.e. you take the gift twice for 2 skills at a total cost of 3 points of dedicated POW?

Of course each skill you want trained requires a separate gift, albeit at the escalating cost. Otherwise someone with 15 POW dedicates 10 POW to their pact and can train 4 Cult Skills to 100% a s a novice character - way too powerful...
