Yep - I've bought a few job lots of each and have adapted a few. Mage Knight and Heroclix, too.
Star Wars minis are quite 'soft' - I acetone strip my plastics, and have to particularly careful with them.
Three of my current robot gang are based on Star Wars minis: Photocopy droids Dr Copy and Dr Print (gonk power droids painted beige with Dr Octopus arms), and rogue cleanerbot Dr Mop (bodyguard droid given a mop-club and a sperical head.
oh.. and I did have a dwarf Spider Droid as Dr Vet (a hypo-darting bot from the Alien Zoo), but he got exploded by a juve with an antique pistol.
