Alt. Myrmidons - painted by WereRogue

While I don't have a problem with the existing Myrmidon model, I just don't feel that it's in-line with the EA at Crusade era (or any era for that matter). So, I'd been searching for a suitable replacement and came across these in my vast Battlefleet Gothic fleets. Some snipping and carving and I think I've got something that could easily slide into a Crusade era EA fleet. My Crusade era fleet is ruddy red on top and a dark blue-grey on the bottom, representing my Martian Defense Force.

The metallics have been double washed, but my camera flash always blows that out. I really need a better studio and camera.

As always, comments and critiques are welcome.

Not a bad Idea, but for me the 'Imperial' prow of the ship is a bit too distincitive for it to fit in with a B5 fleet. You might do better to have a look at some of the ships available from full thrust since theyre more 'generic' and thus theres more that will blend in well I reckon ;)

(www.gzg.co.uk I think....)

EDIT: or not, they seem to have moved: http://www.groundzerogames.net/

Yeah, the Imperial Prow was a bit of a negative for me, both in look and how to paint it. It's still distinctive enough for anyone who's played BFG to tell where it comes from. However, as most of my playgroup hasn't played BFG, it shouldn't be an issue. Prow or not, I think it fits in better than the current Myrmidon, though. :|

I didn't really see anything in the Full Thrust line that tweaked my interest. However, I may look once more at the Cold Navy Line located here: http://xtreme-hobby.com/.

It's just tooooo GW to fit in. It's going to be a couple of months before Cold Navy ships are available, can't wait for that, but in the meantime, as an alternative to GZG try Brigade Models the AmRep fleet have some interesting designs that are small enough to replace a Myrmadon and would fit in better with the Crusade Era design

Yeah, I agree, but it was two of my favorite things when converting models, accessible and free. I'm certainly eagerly awaiting the availability of the Cold Navy line as the Northhampton (at 41mm) and the Masada (at 60mm) will be nice replacements for the "out of line" Myrmidon and the "too tiny" Chronos.

Actually those Cold Navy minis look pretty sweet.... has anyone actually played the game out of interest?

EDIT: Scratch that, seems there isnt a game for them, theyre just minis... still I daresay theyd work well for full thrust etc as an alternate setting :)

No game? There was a game at one point. I have never played it, but there certainly was a game released. The minis just look so sweet don't they. There's another company that make ships based on a Japanese Manga series, they are also really nice but I can't for the life of me remember the company name. I will have to search my games room see if I have the details anywhere. They produce a range of Vree like ships, a human fleet that look similar to actual naval ships in space and an alien bug type fleet.

Uhhh YEAH!!

DURN you all!! those look SOOO sweet!! I am actually relieved that there is not a proper game attached, and as I love the iconic look of the B5 ships I must admit that I really do not want to replace any of my "ships of the line" (for any race really, though I only play EA, for now) I must get some of these!!

as my imagination runs wild (most of the time) they will fit in nicely from time to time for some nice change of pace minis on the table as some non descript outfit of one of the powers that be, or some shot at - GASP, SHOCK, AWE - me actually coming up with a set of "house rules" for another fleet!

MANNNN if only I hadn't looked at this post!

The other line y'all are looking for is Ninja Magic: Rattlehead Games carries 'em Stateside.

I like this one for a Myrmidon

Sorry too tired to put up real pics

I forgot, not bad paint job Wererogue! It pains me that you cut 'em up though.

Also try putting 2 layers of scotch tape over your Camera Flash, it acts like a diffuser and, it should tone down your light.

That's a heck of an idea. In fact, I've even got a miniature to attempt it on. Let's see how it turns out.

As a BFG player, they sort of stick out as obvious Cobras to me, but it would be interesting to see how they blend in with the stock EA ships. Would it be possible for a picture with them along with some other vessels?

Yeah, I'll see what I can do for you.

Like I've said earlier, though, these are just placeholders until I can get my hands on the Cold Navy line of ships.
