Allied forces combined fleet

If 2 empires fight side by side what should happen ini wise.

say one side has +2/+3
and the other +0/+2

Do you add them up or not?

Which way do you think works best?

And how should command factor into this?

Just my last 2 games have been allied and it's been annoying that we are abit unclear which is best to do.

I think for Allied perpose you should add your Ini together to a max of 6 as it would seem that is the maximum ini anyone seems to be able to get individually.

The rules for mixed League fleets say you have an Intiative of 0 unless one of the constituent races is lower. My usual Drazi-Vree--Brakiri-Abbai coalition is at negative initiative, and to be honest I don't see why it would be much different for any other alliance.

Thinking about, unless everyone's of the same race, then there are going to be hold-ups whilst orders are translated, attacks co-ordinated and so on. I'd probably apply the mixed League rules - adding bonuses together just doesn't make sense.

We were playing Narn + Psi Vs ISA + brakiri.

And adding command on top of that did get confusing.

When we do multi-player fights, each player rolls separately and moves/fires in order.
