All Power To Engines and SM

Today we broke out an Ipsha War Globe and immediately came across a rules question.
If a SM ship uses the all power to engines special order, how does the order and the trait interact?
Can the ship only speed off in the direction it faces at the beginning of the turn? Can it choose which direction it goes, or change the direction it faces at the end of it's move?

Thoughts? Rulings?

SM ships do not magically teleport or move sideways; they are assumed to be moving forwards, but making all the turns as required to reach their destination point and facing.

When you use All Power To Engines, you may not turn.

Therefore SM ships can only move straight forwards when using All Power To Engines, they cannot turn at the start, end or during the movement.

That's what we ruled as well, but it didn't seem obvious that we were making the right ruling at the time.
