T20 uses the "profession based" class concepts of D&D instead of the "personal development/stat based" class concept of D20 Modern. As this is also, in many ways, the difference between strong class structure and weak class structure, it is a bone of contention. Since T20 discarded multi-classing penalties and largely avoided strong class features in favor of pools of class-oriented bonus feats, it is arguable that it is already more than halfway to D20 Modern as written. It is certainly neither fish nor fowl, and also eschews the overt heroism of both WotC products for the grit that one gets from a universally lethal combat system.
