Those were to be replaced though, but I can't remember the name of the plane that was to replace it.

Still, wars are won on the ground, but it's always nice to have a bomb to drop in the head of the enemy.

Don't worry, there's plenty of opportunities for bomb dropping (A couple of us playtesters are Air Force, and we had to get our say in )

i did some design work on that for westlands about 7-8 years ago, be nice to have one on the table top.

Oh, we statted up the Apache alright - then took it right off the release schedule!

Seriously though, it would be a very cool model to have on the table. The only problem is its ability to deal neatly with tanks. Multiple tanks. In one turn. To balance this, you either need very, very large games, or an astronomical points cost (tentatively placed at 800 points, and rising). Works better in urban settings, but not everyone is going to play on an urban tabletop. . .

Still, plenty to get your teeth into beforehand - I am quicte liking the MEA's Mirsad

I was wondering how the apache was going to work, it's really a dangerous chopper

will you be posting such units on the web tho, in case anyone feels like proxying them (i know some of my friends can't tell a cobra from a huey)for VERY large games?

The Apache Longbow is a fairly dangerous aircraft, but we (the US) learned the hard way you don't use it as a stand alone weapon...

My biggest question about air support is when will transport choppers be available. When I heard of BF:Evo, I wanted to play either a US or European Airborne army... but alas, transports aren't even on the release schedoule.

The Future Lynx is a transport...

The WZ-10 and the AH-1W Super Cobra are both attack helios...

I believe they're making stats for the USMC V-22 though

Matt's also mentioned rules for rapellign down from a chopper, so it's safe to assume there'll be transports ahoy.

You're going to have to cool your heels untill the main book's released...

Then you can get cards before the units come out.

Dang. I didn't realize that was a transport. Now I might need to buy them too.
