Two new previews have just been posted for Agent and the Central Supply Catalogue. You can grab them both from;

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/series.php?qsSeries=51

Looking at the Agent preview, I'm still unsure why Mongoose seems to think that the law level scale stops at 9. It doesn't - in fact the more oppressive governments (A+) are far more likely to have law levels above 9. Ignoring those, or just lumping them all under "like 9, but worse" without being explicit about it seems really strange to me.

Even CT had descriptions for what A+ law levels were like.

The Central supply catalogue preview seems fairly consistent with the first one: (very) cool weapons, the rest more uncertain. Pitty.

CT LBB3 doesn't go above 9, either (I'm looking at it). Is that from a later suppliment or perhaps MT ?

No, actually it doesn't. CT LBB3 doesn't go above 9, either (I'm looking at it). Is that from a later suppliment or perhaps MT ?

Huh...live and learn & Thanks ! My LBB3 surely only goes to 9. I know what LBB6 is (and now I'm interested and will have look it up there ) but what specifically are the others ? is one of them The Big Black Book ?

Revised editions are always a killer for figuring stuff out. If only things would go out of print after one edition.....;)

Edit: I checked. They only go to A (10), but not A+ ; and A is mainly described as any type of weapon ownership being prohibited, as opposed to prohibited outside the home(9). So, CT A is the same as MGT LL9 (from the SRD). Interesting.

I HATE it when Mongoose does this! Just when I think I can wait for the pdf to come out, they show me these damn previews and I go pre-order the book.

STOP IT!

My bad, CT book 6 only goes to A. Megatraveller was what took it further (to law level L).

Either way the point remains - worlds with high gov UWPs will be more likely to have law levels above A as well, and they're not covered here.

Also, the number comes from the rolls:

Population: 0-10 (2d-2)

Government: 0-15 (2d-7+Pop)

Law Level: 0-20 (2d-7+Gov)

The government lists don't go to 15 in MGT and the LL list doesn't go to 20.

How can LL 6 be considered MODERATE, when it isn't even half way through the chart.

Personally, I houserule a max LL of C (12). Which is a police state ala 1984. Other versions of Traveller have covered those higher Law Levels, MGT should too.

True the CT books only go to A but in the text it refers to A+ law levels.

:)

And thanks for letting me know what the Traveller pub was that had the other levels. :)
