ADvice on painting vorlon ships

Hi yall,

I just purchased myself a vorlon fleet and I'm a newbie to ACTA as well as model painting. Does anyone have any advice on how to paint these ships? Specifically the colors used (brands and type) and the technique (the mottled pattern of the hull). I'm trying to get the colors as close to the tv show as possible and I would welcome any input or guidance on this. I thought I'd start with an enamel chromate yellow but it turned out horrible so I'm thinking acrylics....please help! THANK YOU

Yeah, the pic is a little big and the camera is a little close... but you get the idea.

I used a black undercoat and dapped (with a ripped up sponge) some "Scorpion Green". You have to keep changing the sponge (or ripping a new piece off) because the paint will start to collect and the blobs will start to get bigger and soon just become smears.

It's a fast and easy way... and WAY cheaper than buying an airbrush.

Much the same way that I did mine, however I did it with a few tones of the same colour. First 'blocked' the body of the ship in a darker tone, such as midnight blue (but left black in the recesses etc.) - then sponged on different tones of blue (shadow grey and regal blue IIRC) sponges are essential for the dappled effect.

Then dab enchanted or regal blue inside the fins for the effect there.

Can't really differentiate between ships using names (they're all Kosh!) so I went with the same method in different colours.

Pretty much what everyone does I think ;) Paint a basecolour (something dark) then slotch a lighter colour over the top (maybe 2 shades if you want a bit more variety. Did this with mine:

Basically Painted them a dark olive green then dabbed with a bright yellow, gives a nice organic look thats pretty close (I think) to the yellow from the show :) Really you can go with whatever colour you like though :D

I've just done my most recent additions in a glaring combination of liche purplue, shadow grey and tentacle pink. Mmmmm

Wow, some of these are absolutely brill guys, thanks for the input. Based on what everyone is saying, I'm personally thinking of priming the model a flat white, then dab with a dark gray with a foam to make the motted pattern, then brush paint a bright yellow on top. I think the contrast between the dark grey undercoat and the white primer would show up nice, and then finally I'll make olive specks on top as a final dress. What do you think guys?
