Advancement roll and leaving careers

I just noticed something

Step 8c. of the Character Generation Checklist on page 5

If you roll less than the number of terms spent in this career, you must leave the career.

page 9

If your result is equal to or less than the number of terms you have spent in this career, then you cannot continue in this career after this term.

Which is it? Less than or equal to or just less than?

I don't believe there is publisher errata on this?

Also another thing. Do you count your current term as a term spent in the career?

I always take full rules text over summaries and checklists (often written to fit a fixed space).

'Less than' would make it near impossible to have someone drop out.

Combine the two and I go with equal to or less than until there's an official errata
