Adaptations to 1/72 / 20mm scale - what have people tried?

I imagine some people here have been using 20mm figures for BF:Evo or one of its mods. Did you find you had to change weapons ranges and command distances when using this different scale.

How did you adapt the rules? A straight cm for inch swap ie weapons range of 20" becomes 20cm, or would you have 1 inch convert to 2cm for a similar ratio of height to ground scale?

I'm giving some more thought to my historical adaptation of the rules and while not as well provided for as the WWII era, the Russian civil war is reasonably catered for in 20mm scale, and there is a decent amount of SCW stuff as well.

I've seen people using the rules with 15mm figures and no change of scale. It seemed to work just fine, as should 20mm

I'm basing infantry on pennies, cavalry on tuppences, and tanks on card. 1/72 seems a very practical to do historical games, as two FT-17s or Pz IIIs or Shermans for £5.50 is a pretty good deal, and between the various plastics manufacturers there is a good range of WWII infantry, though WWI and inter war infantry are a bit thinner on the ground, as are lots of the crazy interwar tanks.
1" washers etc seem a bit big, or do you mean slottas? Don't 20mm figs just get lost on slottas? With 10 or 15 mm you could fit a couple and have a little diorama though.

1" GW bases.... They don't get lost - in fact most currently available 1/72 minis look very well on 1" bases. They are not much smaller than MP minis.... I have some photos on evocommand - you may want to go there and see for yourself.

I have some Revell modern British in desert camo 1/72, they look good on the same slottas.
I guess it upto your own preference. :)

1/72 is bloody awesome for evo, I base them on 5c pieces and it seems to work out very nicely...

Speaking of which I should post the new pics of my stuff
:D

I stuck with the same scale, but picked up some 20mm taliban from http://www.figuresarmourartilleryusa.com/ the technicals are a little bit bigger, and the models chunkier, but the same height overall.

or try www.rhmodels.com for the largest range of 20mm modern figures u will find - they are also for sale in the USA at www.syrhobbswargames.com 8)
