ACTA2 B5 questions....

Yup we still play this at our club and we have a campaign on the go at the moment. After playing this for years its always typical that someone new to the rules interprets a printed rule in different way from the accepted (but not necessarily correct) way. I havent really looked at the FAQ for ACTA2 for some years and I dont even know where it would be to be honest....

Anyway!

Stealth: I've always taken the view that the it's a declaration of what weapon systems from a vessel are shooting at the target and then its a single die roll to beat the stealth. The other view is that it is a die roll for each separate weapon system attack.
The problem is that the rules mention 'attacks' at the start of the definition (for the lock-on section) and revert to 'attack' later for the success/failure section.

Point Blank: Fighters point blank to stealth ships (or contacting their bases) ignore the stealth trait of the target. What about ships? and if so how many and what constitutes point blank?

Squadrons: do all ships within a squadron shoot simultaneously with others in the squadron - as opposed to sequentially in the same initiative step? What I mean is can a second ship in the squadron shoot a target with the benefits of a previous ships attacks? Back to stealth again: does each subsequent ship in a squadron that shoots a stealthed target get the +1 after a previous ship in the same squadron has hit it?

Thanks guys...... that's all for now...

By the way - AoG is still selling their entire original range of B5 ships 'from pre-existing stock'.

B5 will never die 8)

My good dear friend, B5 posters are always appreciated :)

Stealth - yep you roll to see if the ship can see its enemy or not - one roll per ship targeted not per weapon system.

Only fighters ignore stealth if point blank - ships get +1 if within 8" (as do fighters if they are not in base to base contact).

You declare and complete each ships firing in order - so yes a second ship in the squadron firing after the first can benefit from the first ship "breaking" stealth.

That is correct. It is a single dice roll for the ship doing the shooting.

Only fighters can do this.

Squadrons: do all ships within a squadron shoot simultaneously with others in the squadron - as opposed to sequentially in the same initiative step? What I mean is can a second ship in the squadron shoot a target with the benefits of a previous ships attacks?

A squadron declares all its attacks together, but executes them one ship at a time. However should you destroy a target, the roll for explosion doesn't occur until all the ships have fired.

Back to stealth again: does each subsequent ship in a squadron that shoots a stealthed target get the +1 after a previous ship in the same squadron has hit it?

Yes. Although it is not ever cumulative, there is only ever +1 from the ship already having been shot at.

{edit: Da Boss beat me to it!}
