Damnit Burger stop skewing the results ;) (though having met you and played against you I suspect you would have voted the same even if you HAD played B5wars :P

I only played B5W once and didn't like it much. I felt it was overly complicated, too many dice types, too much to do for each ship.

Well I voted for B5W because I think it has the better feel BUT ACTA is good and they both fulfill a niche.

In fact I think I'd like something in the middle. Some more detail than ACTA, but not to the extent of B5W.

Fleet Action was near essential to cut B5W down to a level where you could actually play a game. I found B5W do-able, but not many did (then again, I actually like Phoenix Command.) ACtA is a lot easier to find opponents for.

CTA. Larger engagements are much easier to play, the fun factor is definitely higher. B5W had a tendency to bog down over 6 or 7,000 points.

Can I politely ask where these polls are going? I believe someone on here from Mongoose mentioned a very vague idea of releasing a B5W ruleset somehow, but it's a moot point for the most part... Althoguh it is of course your right to post them, I'm not seeing what these polls can achieve besides spreading ill will.

I generally prefer high-resolution games like B5W anyway. It's a little more detail than I'd like, but ACtA is vastly less.

Also, I never got to play either game much, because of various circumstances. (Why couldn't all these games have come out while I was in high school, or college?) So a good chunk of my enjoyment of the game came from reading the fluff; I generally prefer AoG's take on things.

I voted ACtA, but

I agree that I think B5Wars fluff was better.

I think the damage/attack in B5Wars was better, if they had made movement less complicated the game would have been the superior system. But the movement being this easy has given ACtA the advantage in playability.

ACTA is a superb fleet game. B5Wars tended to get tedeious if you had more then three ships each on the table. But it was an excellent skirmish setup.

Im just curious to see exactly WHAT the spread is like of people with regards to the two games. I know alot of people feel as I do, that B5Wars was more 'B5ey' and certainly a better simulation of detailed ships but not necessarily a better GAME

<Part 2 of 3>

Hard to say. I think per game, B5Wars is more enjoyable if you're in the right mood. As I mentioned in Poll 1, it's a very distinctive game unlike anything else in its mechanics and feel, and I just love that. But you need time, patience, and the right people to make it that fun, so you aren't going to get to play it very often or on the scale you might like. For overall fun over time, or casual fun on any given evening, ACTA triumphs. It can be played (and enjoyed) by even non-gamers, so you have more variety of people to have social fun with while playing too. But as a pure game, on a game by game basis...B5Wars just hooks me in a detailed method of combat and universe in a way ACTA doesn't. Plus, it's fluff is much better and more distinctive as well, much more fun to read through when you aren't playing. Both are really fun though, and the best part is that the models and background knowledge carry over between the two! I imagine if running a narrative campaign you could even switch between them.
