ACTA Tournament -Saturday 20th Feb 2010

Da Boss

Mongoose
Hi all

Following the successful tournament in Aldershot recently I have been inspired and encouraged to run a similar event in Northamptonshire.

Can I ask how would be interested and their opinions on the following:

Dates - presently looking at mid to late February

Sat 20th or Sun 21st, Sat 27th
or even Sat 6th or Sun 7th March

Any preferences on Sat or Sunday

my initial thought for format was to have 4 games - more chance for everyone to play each other.

perhaps 2 Skirmish level games, 1 raid level and 1 battle or
1 Skirmish, 2 Raid, 1 Battle

I liked the themed element to the Aldershot tourney - using the ISDs for once - and would quite like to have something similar.

location - Boughton House (stableblock) - plenty of room for 20+ participants

see www.boughtonhouse.org.uk

thanks - look forward to comments, thoughts etc.

20/21st fall in half term, making it potentially more difficult for me to get time off (but not impossible). Otherwise I am good to go.

I should be able to make it - as long as it doesn't start too early in the morning! :)
I would prefer any of the Saturdays.

I like the skirmish level games, they are short and fun. But it's also cool to get some big ships out as well. How about:
1) 5 Skirmish
2) 5 Skirmish
3) 2 Battle
4) 2 War, must take at least 1 War level ship
Those games should be fairly short, 90 mins each should be enough.

umm, ok,

Bacon: noun
1. the back and sides of the hog, salted and dried or smoked, usually sliced thin and fried for food.
2. Also called white bacon. South Midland and Southern U.S. pork cured in brine; salt pork.

Butty: noun, plural -ties. British Dialect.
1. a slice of bread and butter.
2. a sandwich.

burgers idea is sound, apart from the 1 warship requirement, i'd rather field 2 g'quans.....

Look at you all grammaticorically correct and stuff, Smart Ass.
Smart
–verb (used without object)
1. to be a source of sharp, local, and usually superficial pain, as a wound.
Ass
–noun Vulgar.
1. the buttocks.

Like my big word up there?!

Continue your plans--
Again, I get to play alone....

hehehehe.

I assume it is a bacon sandwich in the US? depending on your location in the uk, we have any number of words for bread products, even if I go travel to say Burgers, they use strange foreign words.

The US version is a BLT (bac, lettuce, Tomato) but you could have bacon only.

If you want to see a really fun toon about a sandwich, watch the Broodwich episode of Aquateen hunger force (season 2)

HILARIOUS

will have to look at my rosters but would be good to get in on an ACTA tourney again as been a long time since played properly.

I'll be there fella... 8)

Four games sounds good, and Burger's suggestion would probably work best - though i'd make the Battle and War PL games 3 pts instead of 2 (especially if there was the caveat of a mandatory Warship).

Should be A ok for a saturday. As Burger suggested not to early please!!!!
also a shout out to Burger to share petrol on the way up

looking good so we have

Greg (possible)
Ken (Kennyboy)
Neil (TGT)
Burger
Katadder (Possible)
Hiffano (possible - food related)

Probably start same time as Aldershot - 10.30am gives people a chance to get brekkie on the way

Draft Format

10am -10.30am Sign-in - time to say hit, taunt opponents - make rash statements of victory

10.30am Game 1 (5 pt Skirmish)

noon - lunch break

12.30 - 2pm, Game 2 (5 pt skirmish)

2.15pm - 3.45pm - Game 3 (2 pt Battle)

4pm - 5.45pm - Game 4 (3 pt War, must have at least one War(or higher) ship)

6pm - awards, final taunting and depart

I'll think on scenarios and ISD - but will confirm both before the tourney to allow cunning plans to be formulated.
