ACTA Top Gun Admiral/Carrier

If a Top Gun Admiral is stationed on a carrier and fighters are taken from it to make a wing that is then launched independently do they retain the bonus or do the fighters have to be launched during the scenario?

They have to be launched during the scenario.
The bonus comes from the Admiral, who is on board the carrier, not from the actual fighter pilots.

I know the Inspired Command specificially states that the Admiral has to be there but the Top Gun simply states that every fighter "on board the ship" gains the benefit. Under the Admiral definition it states that "his ship does not have to be present on the table..." for some of the abilities to still have effect.

:?: So which of the Admiral benefits require the admiral to be on the board to be used?

In terms of the fluff, it makes sense that the fighters get the +1. The rule says the admiral 'has trained his fighter crews accordingly.'

In terms of rules, the player is getting the benefit of an Admiral's ability without fielding the Admiral in his fleet selection.

Personally, I would be tempted to say yes. Largely because I don't think it will make a huge difference. It is open for abuse if the Admiral is on a Poseidon and the player wishes to field 6 wings of thunderbolts, but generally a +1 bonus on a few flights isn't a game breaker.

Well if you're in a campaign and have a fleet carrier such as a Morshin spawning Nials with a +1 dogfight, regenerating 2 per turn, and swapping them around to all your other ships... soon all your Nials will have +1 dogfight without having to field your Morshin. That is quite broken.

I'd take it to only give a bonus to flights that actually deploy from the Admiral's ship, even if it's a carrier and the fighters are deployed as wings without the carrier. If they are redeployed to other ships I'd drop the bonus as it does specify that the flights on board the Admiral's ship get the +1.

That was my understanding, Fighters launched from the carrier are noted and if it is in a scenario that your fleet carrier is relaunching fighters that were from other ships, they don't get the benefit. Only those stationed on the Admiral's carrier. If the Admiral's fighters get recycled through a different Flt Carrier, I'd assume that they retain the bonus. Effectively the Admiral's fighters are special flights while stationed with the Admiral's ship.
