[ACTA:SF] Ship stats

Ok, i was looking around for the policy on posting custom made stats for ACTA:SF. So far I have not found a sticky or rules stating not to. Only that it can't be a copy right violation that is held by someone else..

Is this correct? If so then can I start a custom ship thread.

what ships are you building stats for. If its anything movie or TV related then yes I believe it is a copyright violation.

Nay, just variant weapon load outs of existing ships.. Mainly dropping drones to up phasers, etc..

I would think it's okay as long as you mind the copyright issue. Also, ADB/Mongoose don't want anything statted-up for SFU ships that exist in another game but not yet in ACTA. You might want to be careful with posting so called obvious variants*; these are simple conversions of existing ships which ADB/ Mongoose may do themselves at some point in the future.

If you are coming up with your own stats for your own ship designs, then it should be fine.

*from the ADB auto-reject list: Obvious variants (leader, scout, carrier, PFT, commando, drone, minesweeper) of standard warships which do not already have them (e.g., Klingon F6, E5, Kzinti DW, Orion DW, Gorn BDD, Fed FFB, Gorn CM, etc.). You might suggest or ask for such a ship, but if we agree it is needed, it will be designed in-house.

Dropping drones in favour of either additional rear or 360 phasers would be an interesting idea.

A single phaser-1 or a pair of phaser-3s might be the way to do it.

I've been chewing over a different take on the Romulan Eagle ships to make them more threatening that runs along similar lines.

As long as its clearly sated as being fan made and not a ship from the franchise you can normally put pretty much anything up on the foum.

eg just make a class name and some stats and give it a nominal point value and see what people think...........

as noted the problem is really if its on screen etc.

There are a few threads on the site like this - you might want to invent new or variant weapons as well (hopefully not drones).............
