WereRogue said:New players are not required for a game with a solid rules structure and dedicated players.
If the "old blood" doesn't quit at the first sign of trouble, then there's no demand to get "new blood" into the game. Play with the miniatures you have. If you've got multiple fleets, sell some off to new players. Use counters! New players are more apt to join a game if the "buy in" cost is low, anyway.
People tend to just hear bad news and claim the sky is falling without giving any sort of thought to actually keep the sky from falling. It's pathetic.

Don't be a fool. Without new players the promised book releases won't appear, ACtA articles for S&P will vanish, and pow, the whole game's gone. A few old copies in second-hand gaming stores and a few sad old veterans longing for the glory years...
...ACtA has just become the Centauri Republic of gaming.![]()

WereRogue said:"Augh, the game might be dying because they've stopped producing miniatures for it! Quick, everyone stop playing so we can ensure its death!"
Where the frack is the logic in that??
Come on, people, bad news doesn't kill a game, players abandoning it because of the bad news kills a game. I, for one, will continue playing using the ships I have, thus, ensuring the game doesn't die for me.

Not that long. AoG went out of business in 2002: it wasn't very long before someone picked up the license. And models you paint are models you paint: you can use them for other games, or to continue playing this game with your current group. Or for the next incarnation of the Babylon 5 game.
My worry is that no one will want to pick this up, for fluff reasons. You see, ACtA was the third of the Babylon space games. That means that the next one is not only going to disappear, but do so in a highly unusual way. Thus making way for the last of the Babylon space games.

Poi, always with the drama
The News page tells you what is happening. I'll be doing a Planet Mongoose post later that will explain _why_.
WereRogue said:Feh. This is all just typical gamer crap when things break bad in a company. Chicken Little bullcrap.
If we stop playing the game, then yes, it will stop being supported. You're doing the game no favors by saying "Ah, if they're not going to make miniatures for it, then we should just stop playing it!" No amount of "no new players" or "no more support" can sway me from the fact that most of you are just being over-reactive idiots.
The game can be played with counters easily enough and it has everything you need to play contained within the recently released Rules and Fleet books. Are you all so addle-brained that you cannot create your own scenarios or campaigns or whatever? You have fleets, you have rules. I'm sure there will be counters released (if, that is, MGP has any ACTA players to release them to) and that's all you need to play the game.
I don't know, maybe things are clearer to me because I'm not in "Augh, MGP just screwed me!" mode. :? Or maybe it's just that my mindset tends to be "Well, you're cut, and bleeding, let's try to heal the wound." rather than "Well, you're cut, and bleeding, but there's nothing I can do, so I'm afraid you're just going to die."
Sheesh.
