The colours for the gaim are as follows (As told to me in a PM form Adrian)

Paint schemes of the Gaim ships was real easy, had to do them all in an hour or so so I chose metallics as they're quicker. Main body is Chainmail with a mixture of blue and green inks mottled on and the fins and details are plain Mithril.
Glad you liked the Gaim stuff I sculpted some of them

To mottle: "To mark with spots or blotches of different shades or colours"...

Different ratios of mixed green and blue inks were applied in random patterns. Also thin glazes of the same mixes were used after to unify the colours and reach the desired overall shade.

To glaze: "to cover (a painted surface or parts of it) with a thin layer of transparent colour in order to modify the tone"

very good.

now.

HOW did you apply them? brushes? sponges? via the use of a small, intricately designed catapult? B&Q value paint roller?

from your post I am given to understand that you mixed blue and green inks, applied a coat. Then mixed to a different ratio of blue/green and applied another coat?

if thats the case which way did you go? darker or lighter?

Applied with a brush.

I don't remember any order I just make it up as I go along until I think it looks OK.
Painting anything is a creative process, do what you want and stop doing it when you think it looks right. Use a brush, use a sponge use whatever you are happy using, though from your questions you are probably better off with that catapult :D .

True danger painting isn't about firing the paint using a catapult.

True 'danger painting' is putting just the right amount of paint on your brush then firing YOU from the catapult!

I'm trying to perfect the technique so that I can paint really REALLY straight lines.............

gets a bit messy if I misjudge the landing though........
