ACTA - Fleet Lists book - Quantities of fighters.

Some ships can carry fighters. Unfortunately the *quantities* of fighters involved is vague and, to me, undefined.

This book uses phrases like:-
"Patrol(Wing of Four Flights)" - p 8 - how many craft does that mean?
and on p9, for the Explorer Class Survey ship, it is written it has a complement of 6 Tiger Star Fury Flights" - just how many Star Furies is that?

I could give more examples but I figure you get the idea.

TIA

The number of fighters in a flight is dependent on fighter type, but historically within ACTA a flight of Furies is 6 individual fighters. Whereas for a WS fighter it is one per flight.

However, in game terms, the stats in the fleet lists are given per flight of fighters immaterial of how many actual fighters are in that flight. Each flight of fighters is represented by one counter or base of fighter models.

Hope that answers your question.

if a ship says 4 flights for example then thats 1 base of fighters, wether on the standard base of 6 or your own 1-2 3-etc,
if it says a wing of 4 flights then 4 bases for the wing to make the pl point

if a ship says 4 flights, then thats 4 bases or counters of fighters.
if a wing gets you 3 flights, the you get 3 bases or counters of fighters.

don't worry about how many you see on the models.

I took one look at WSC-L and said to myself "Hmm, wiskle."

For great justice take off every wiskle... *goes and beats head against wall*

The number of flights is the number of counters you recieve per patrol pt for a scenario or battle .... the number of craft per flight is unimportant.

As with most things it is a system description that isn't exactly translated or explained in any great detail and it is largely expected that people will understand them, though mostly they are relatively self explanitory if you understand either naval or air force terminology. Failing that check out wikipedia for terminology explanaitions.
