ACTA:Fighters in Ambush scenario

Howarth

Mongoose
How should fighters react in the first round of ambush. These cannot check to see if they can act normally as they have no crew quality checks.

If they are escorting what can they do?
If they are flying in along side a ship what can they do?

Please could we have some input

Also, is the CQ check just for the first round or does the ship have to make a CQ check before it can act normally going into subsequent rounds?

The CQ check is for the first round only. I don't have the rules to hand, but from memory I think it says in the scenario description that fighters may act normally, which I'd assume includes escorting/intercepting etc.

The rules don't seem say it's first round only (though I assume that was the intent); and fighters aren't mentioned anywhere. At least in my version--but I'm missing the Victory Conditions for Assassination, so Ambush may be different as well.

I checked the rules when I got home and my copy confirms my post. I know mine was held back due to errors in the original, you may well have an early one.

My PDF copy doesn't state anything about fighters, nor if they have to keep up trying to make the CQC to act normally. I just recently purchased the PDF.

So the current PDF is out of date?

SCENARIO RULES: The Attacker automatically wins Initiative in the first turn. The Defending player may only act normally with his ships if they first pass a Crew Quality check (target number 10). If a ship fails this check, it must move 6" (or up to it's maximum speed if less than 6) in a straight line. The defending player's fighters may all act normally.

It doesn't specifically say that the CQ check is for the first round only, but I'm sure that's the intent. In the 1e version of Ambush the defender couldn't act at all in the first turn and a number of players took that to mean that the ships were at speed 0 (so no dodges, and could be boarded, and could All Stop And Pivot next turn) and I'd take the change in 2e as a fix for this.
