ACTA:Fighters acting as interceptors

The rules for fighters acting as interceptors when supporting a capital ship are clear enough. But when supporting other flights outside of dogfights there are a few questions that have come up in recent threads:

1: Are fighter flights allowed to intercept for a flight they are supporting in the first place ?

2: If a flight is acting as an interceptor for a flight can a third fighter flight act as interceptor support for it (and so on, forming a "chain" if you will)

3: Can a pair of flights act as interceptors for each other ?

and two related questions:

1: If a flight is flying in support of another flight can it in turn be supported by another ? (same as Q.2 above, but for dogfights)

2: If a ship has, say, 4 flights on support as interceptors and you roll four ones (yes, I'm that lucky :) ) do you remove one flight or all four ?

2b: Can flights that are lost while acting as interceptors be recovered as normal by Fleet Carriers ?

Most of this has been discussed on the main forum already

Hi there,

Flights cannot act as interceptors for other flights.

As for Fleet Carrier recovery, yes!
Umm... can we get a full rundown of all of the ways that fighters count as ships and all of the ways in which they don't?

There seems to be a fair amount of confusion on this...

And can we have this change of rules added to the FAQ/errata? That holds a little more weight than just pointing to a thread on a forum.

yeah this really should be put inthe Q&A i wouldn't have know that this change occured but i happend to be looking through this area....the book very specificly says fighters CAN support other flights of fighters.

the issue there is that 'support' means too much.

rules sets are fairly techinical, but are often written using general speech. This leads to a lot of unnecessary confusion.

Support for flight on flight means it will intercept the first aux craft to attack the supported flight. (we still don't have an answer on whether two flights can support each other in this way.) Ships may also be supported in this way, but up to four flights may support.

A flight may also act as an interceptor, but this seems to be separate from 'support' even though related in placement and general speech. Needs it's own term really...
