Please could someone at Mongoose put the definative FAP breakdown on either the website and / or the forum to try to avoid any confusion as both the rulebook and fleetbook have different ones at present?

thanks - be helpful to all in the long run? :)

Hi guys,

Use the Fleet Book.

Note that this affects only a tiny number of rulebooks, and was corrected immediatly.

I have a question regarding the FAP breakdown. If I take an armageddon point and break it down into 18 patrol points can I take 2 of those patrol points and make it a skirmish, or take 6 of the points and get 3 skirmish?

I ask because I dont see anything forbidding this, and would help out fleets that are more lower priority focused. Especially if more people start playing 1 pt Armageddon games. If you want a mix of a few skirmish and lots of patrol you cant really do it with the breakdown provided. 11 skirmish and 2 patrol is the best you can do, but if you can buy up after breaking down, you could have 3 skirmish and 12 patrol, which may not seem as powerful but I think it all really depends on the fleet configuration you have.

So back to my original question, is this allowed or against the rules, if it is against the rules could I get some clarification on where it says you cant do that?

I think they word 'only' needs to be mentioned in there somewhere then, or there needs to be somewhere that states that points that are split down cannot be combined back up.

The chart can also be interpreted as 1 armageddon = 12 skirmish points.

Okay I now have 12 skirmish points to assign to my fleet. well 1 raid point is 2 skirmish points, so I'll use 4 skirmish points to get 2 raid ships and then have 8 skirmish choices. This is all based on information on the chart, which can be used in addition to the normal FAP Table.

It should be made clear that you cant buy up, because honestly in the current FAQ I didnt read anywhere the what I suggested is against the rules as written. And you know how rules lawyers love the rules as written.

A simple note stating that points split down cannot be combined to buy higher priority ships would clear up any confusion on the matter.

"As well as using the Fleet Allocation table above, you also can use a single Fleet Allocation Point to buy ships of different Priority Levels, using the following table." [Emphasis added by me]

Note that when you split a FAP, you are not buying points. You are buying ships. So you can't do any more splitting, because you can only split points according to the tables. a ship is a ship and can't be split.
