ACTA B5 event - Autumn 2011

Right then people

Can I get a register of interest for a ACTA event in the Autumn. Also if anyone know people who might be interested but don't frequent the forum please ask them.

Also would people prefer a tournament or a series of linked games/ activities - or a Doubles tournament perhaps? Or even more rpg like linked scenarios for people to fight through with set fleets etc

I should be able to provide a venue if people are willing to travel here.

Lastly dates to try for and dates to avoid

thoughts, comments, sugggestions

:)

Sign me up. I'm booked for most of September but free after that.
I prefer tournament, anything else tends to get complicated and I like the easy life :)

How about a doubles tournament with random partners - I remember having a lot of fun with Digger at the MGP doubles tourney.........

I'm up for just about anything... but that's enough of my bedroom preferences...

So yea, just give me a shout when you're all set and I'll come give you some easy targets ;)

Got my vote.

I think a random doubles tourney would be fun or even a "Scenario" Tourney would be a laugh :D.

One idea would be a "Earth / Centauri War" type event if Charles could stretch to 2 days or people are up for it.

Doubles would be cool as long as the fleets are relatively small. I always find that twice the ships (and players) takes 4x as long to play...

I might give it a go if the date is announced early enough that I can get cheap train tickets. :) Especially if it's a two day event, which makes the whole expense of getting there more worthwhile.

Maybe have one of the smaller games as random doubles. The big 5 Battle / 3 War game at the end probably still needs to be singles, though.

If you want a "scenario" tourney without tying it down to specific races (and probably excluding several players' favourite fleets), how about Order vs. Chaos? Minbari and Vorlons are Order, Drakh and Shadows are Chaos, pretty much everyone else is negotiable depending on who wants to play which fleets. Army of Light is Order, though individual races could go to either side as needed, and Earth can go on both sides at once. You can switch fleets from one game to another provided you stay with the same alignment, e.g. if you're on the side of Order then you can't play Shadows during the tourney.

Doubles ARE fun, but can take a long time...

A 2 day event isn't a problem for the Kettering crowd, but may reduce attendees who can't commit to a full weekend of shenanigans...

Mongoose's doubles tourney was fun. Both players had 5-point skirmish IIRC, so games weren't too long. Although there were a couple of odd scenarios, I think.

Has everyone given up on this event? Us Kettering guys can muster 4-5 players, so we only really need another half dozen or so to make it a viable gathering... 8)
Mark, you able to reach out to Neil and Digger? Walsall guys can usually be relied on for 3 to 4 people, "independents" like Stormrider, Adrian H and Hiff etc can bolster the roster, but we do need to hear from people... C'mon guys, I've got a crown to defend!

Seriously though, if Charles doesn't get enough positive response for events he's prepared to host, it may stop him from making the effort in the future.

I am still up for it but my calendar is filling up fast
So is Kettering Travelodge. :( And if it's going to be an Autumn event rather than Winter, cheap train tickets probably aren't an option any more either...
