ACTA: Atmospheric ship weapon trait: Double Dmg vs. troops

Sorry, tried to edit my post and ended up deleting the original :D

On pg.41 of ACTA 2e Rule Book, under the heading 'Attack Emplacements' DD/TD/QD do respectively destroy multiple emplacements vs. hull 6. On an additional roll of a die and a result of a 6, a troop for each emplacement is also destroyed.

from this I'll interpret it as a modification of how you treat dmg (emplacement) and crew (troop) except with no cripple or adrift conditioning.

Now just before that 'attack emplacements' interpretation, on the same said page, it states that troops can only be killed as the just said interpretation, by landing troops and treating it as a modify boarding action, or by a 3rd way 'Entering the atmosphere' on the following page, pg.42.

For atmospheric ships it just sums up saying they may attack troops once you enter the atmosphere. In regards to movement you have to declare you're doing so otherwise the player must select to land or leave the atmosphere.

Therefore I take it if there isn't restrictions to weapons (i.e: when one looks to 'attacking emplacements') you can assume the weapons should be treated as if your doing dmg to 'crew' of a ship.

Is this basically the correct way of assumption in regards to the treatment of the weapon special trait DD/TD/QD?

I don't see why not.

If the atmospheric trait allows you to attack troops directly, and DD/TD/QD allows you to effectivly multiply the amount of Damage done on the attack, I don't see why it wouldn't allow you to multiply the amount of Troop damage you do with the weapon.

Again, just my opinion.

Not really the place for a debate, but you could easily argue that troops are not as concentrated enough to get the full advantage of the double, etc. damage like you would in the confined space of a starship.

You could also argue that one e-mine would kill all the troops on the planet, or at least get an attack roll against each one ;)

The rules do say "adjusted for traits as normal" - admittedly before it says one troops is killed - so I'd be inclined to say DD/TD/QD do have an effect.
