Would a Traveller Space Pirate look like this?

How about him, would he make a great space pirate?

How about these Space Pirates?

Here is a nice space pirate.

What would happen if one of these appeared in the OTU?

None of the above.

Ike: While they might call us "pirates", we consider ourselves freedom fighters against the cruel oppression of their brutal fascist empire. :P

Plus it is better to be able to hide in the crowd.

....well. Traikhetouh would be a bit bemused. She thinks she's seen something like those... people on some holovids. Most of her friends and rivals in the trade seem absolutely dull by comparison.

Right now, her petite by aslan standards frame is in a flowing, translucent linen gown carrying an idol to an 'aslan god' as she seductively saunters into a mark's starship. And she's the ship's chief engineer. Baddest looking pirate on their ship is the aslan warrior who stands head and shoulders taller than her and a few of the other humans.

Looking at these pictures, she may spike Atki's mane and give him an eye patch then teach him a toothy sneer.

Dragoner has the right of it.

Space Prates look like an other private crew. They wear vac-suits or jump suits or coverals. They have tattoos and piercings, but who doesn't? They might well have more scars than most people, but even that's not certain.

The one thing that is certain is that the do not look like pirates. Piracy is a crime, y'know...

Pirates, naturally, love to watch holovids about pirates. They think they're hilarious. They love laughing at the unrealistic fantasies of screenwriters who've never even been into orbit.

I guess we can stop worrying about the aliens in rubbersuits dilemma.

And start becoming apprehensive about furries.

That's not a new apprehension.
Yeah. I had trouble getting players for Traveller because people thought it was a "furry game".

Aslan, vargr, k'kree, the lizard like droyne, the starfish hiver and the Newts to name a very few races with obvious analogies to terran animals that populate the space lanes. Hate to bust your collective furophobic bubbles but Traveller has been furry for 30+ years. Same for many RPGs. Like the Star Wars Empire, remain in your humanocentric circle.

When I think about it, the best Traveller image for piracy has to be vargr. Even the word arrgh sounds like a vargr word.
