A WaW Project Log

However, I was wondering how you guys use models that have multiple figures on one base? For example, if I were to put a guy with MG and a guy with the MG ammo on a single base (just like lots of the pictures of MG teams in the rulebook show) - do you think it is plausible to use it a single model with 2 hits - with the second figure on the base not really using it's own weapon? (though when allocating damage dice the base may still have two dice placed on it before moving on to the next closest figure?).
Absolutely OK for me. I treat them sometimes as Hits/X, Multifire/All units.

Just a quick update today ...now that phase two of my British Paratrooper Army is done (that's 1500 pts) :D

The command section has 3 figures from the 'Italeri Anti-Tank Teams' box (which also has a number of Soviet, German, and US troops in the box too) ...which are the guy in the beret (my Lieutenant) and the PIAT team:

I also wanted to include a MMG team in the army too ...so I have used some 20mm metal figures from TQD miniatures (that I got from the "Sgt's Mess" website for less than £2), along with one of the prone Italeri plastics:

They are ever so slightly smaller than the 1:72 scale Italeri figures - but it's hardly noticeable at all.

Now that I've got the Pacific book, I thought I'd have a go at putting together a quick (infantry only) army in as short a time as possible ...just to see how fast I can get it done.

So for this army I am going for a Chindit force ...using (primarily) a box of Matchbox Anzac Infantry figures (that I got for about a fiver on ebay) - which are equipped in much the same fashion as the Chindits.

The plan is to post a new pic each day this week to show how I'm getting on (though because I'm going for speed, they'll not be all that pretty), and hopefully I'll have them done by the end of the week.

So here's yesterday's pic - where the figures have been cleaned up a little, glued to pennies (or a two pence piece for the MG's), and some greenstuff added to blend the base into the penny.

Monday's Progress:

...and have I mentioned how I love the fact that you can pick up a box of figures for around £5 and have a perfectly usable army :)

Looking good.
Have you considered using Milliput instead of greenstuff for the bases?
Just as good, but even cheaper! :D

£5 an army, yes, very good!

It's funny you should say that ...as I was on the verge of buying some milliput for just that purpose. However, I found some old greenstuff out (which was getting a bit hard, and not much good for other stuff), so I used that in this instance - just to use some of it up.

Anyway, here's Tuesday's progress:

...where I've just undercoated and base-coated half of the figures. Hopefully I'll get the other half done today, and then I can move on to a 'wash' or two over the top.

Well I did manage to finish base-coating the rest yesterday...

...but I doubt I'll get much done today other than applying a general wash over the figures (and maybe a second wash over the guns - to darken them further) - but that will only leave a quick coat of varnish and a sprinkling of static grass for tomorrow to finish them off :)
