A question for you kit-bashers or experienced model builders

Hi. I have a question.

I'm going to be submitting a ship design to ADB in the near future, and I like the idea so much I decided to kitbash a model to include it's photo in the submission (as well as use in ACTA:SF for personal use/testing).

My question is this: How does one make phaser bumps? I'm not sure that using putty is the way to go or not.

Second question. What is a good way to add a couple more drone rack mounts to a hull? I thought maybe superglue some squares made of scrap pewter I have onto the hull, and file them to shape.

Or is there a better way?

The white styrene strips (made by Evergreen or Plastruct) of varying thickness and size is my usual scratchbuilding material of choice and should be perfect for the drone rack. For the phaser bumps, you should be able to roll a two part molding/sculpting putty like green stuff into a small ball and then cut it with an exacto, let it harden and glue it on. Alternately if you don't look close, just take the tip off a toothpick or use a small bit of brass rod (although getting it that small would be fiddly).
