STARLINE 2500
Our new joint venture deal with Mongoose includes a provision that they are going to replace (over a period of a couple of years) every existing Starline 2400 ship with a new computer-generated design. (We call this Starline 2500, but they plan to market it under another brand yet to be selected.) The first ships will appear in late 2011, and ships will then follow every month or two. This will include some entirely new ships. It may also, from time to time, including special limited-production (minor variant) ships available only for a short time, or as part of special offers.

This is truly exciting news. New production ships will be fancier, and those in the vocal and vociferous minority who constantly complained that our ships were “not good enough for the modern market” will get his wish. Everyone who has an extensive collection can keep it, or perhaps slowly replace it with new designs. (The existing 2400 line could be used for Early Years if you want, or the new 2500 designs could be used for X-ships.)

These ships will be done in resin using 1-3125 scale.

Will there be a new board for the Star Fleet Universe-themed titles created soon?

(As an aside, if one is created, should topics discussing ADB's existing games, such as Federation Commander, go there, or in the current off-topic board?)

Well I have to admit that the Noble Armada did not really capture my imagination (although some of the ships look really good) this one certainly does!

Please ignore that snuffling you may hear in the background, that's just my wallet dreading the thought of yet another set of rules & ships to buy

I think Noble Armada will still be supported and will not be ditched.

Indeed. In fact I came into this forum first thing in the morning to answer this very question (kinda knew it would be raised :)).

Nothing will change with Noble Armada. Before we start _any_ work on the models for CTA: SF (as ide from a handful of prototypes), all the ships for Fleets of the Fading Suns (the Noble Armada supplement due in September) will be completed, ensuring you not only have five new fleets, but additions for the existing Noble Houses too.

Bercause we now do all of our ship modelling in-house, it is exceptionally easy for us to continue supporting Noble Armada with new models.

In short, you keep playing, and we will keep supporting!

I wasn't suggesting that mongoose would fail to support the game, I was more of the view that NA is not a universe that is very popular, apart from with Clanger ;-)
and that a lot of people who have been uhming and ahing (myself included awaiting Kurgan) may now just leave it and wait for trek, though to be fair, I want next gen!!

wish it was, think they are seperate licences, but until Matt announces more I guess I won't know.
but if next gen is there, I'll be going all romulan, m'wah hhahahhahah

I think this is great news, but please whoever is doing the books proof-read them and make sure the bindings are good!

i'd like think CTA2 was well proof read, heck I know how many corrections i sent in, I even got a whole ship description in myself :-)
I don't think NA was that bad to be fair, and my runequest books were top notch.

To quote:

I don't think people will play, why?

1. There are still more people playing ACTA than NA!

2. The new ACTA-SFB is what we have all been waiting for!

My viewpoint is that once ACTA-SFB is up and running, NA will see a swift decline. In the meantime, people won't spend on NA, they will play ACTA and save their pennies for the new game.

Fading Suns 3 comes out this year, which will give NA a boost and, at the end of the day, NA gives a different play experience, in the same way that B5 was very different and so too will be the next game.

There comes a time when you just want to jam a boarding action down your opponent's throat, and NA is the game to do that!
