a few new ones

Here are a few more questions I need some help with.
Thanks in advance!

7) Do Shadows still have a Shadow Cloud?

8 ) When applying the damage upgrade from the campain refit do you always take 10% from the base health and add it on top or 10% from the current. (Same for Vorlons)

9)Can you loose a random fire arc on a Shadow Ship when you only have 1 arc to fire from, effectivley negating the damage if a arc you don't have is chosen, I ask this because the rulebook says "all" ships have these arcs. (Same for Vorlons)

I'm sorry it seems I started a new post without noticing! I meant to put it back on Shadows Q&A ah well.

I was afraid of both those answers but nevertheless I must continue forward! How about the HP refit anyone got a opinion on it?

When applying the 10% increase in damage points, I would calculate the increase based on the starting damage.

example, if a ships had 100 damage points, and gets a 10% boost, it would then have 110 damage.

if it got another 10% boost, it should add another 10% of the original 100, for a total of 120, not 10% of the new total (10% of 110) for a total of 121.

your opinion may differ.

My opinion is that it is 10% of its current value. This means they won't get the full value of it from it's fifth application as there is the 150% limit.

For some reason people seem to feel that the limit to 150% of it's original starting value means that it can never actually get to the 150% as it tops out at 146% or so of it's starting original value if it's 10% of its current value. They therefor feel it has to be 10% of the start on each advance.

I admit it's easier with 10% of the original but I don't agree with it.

I also think current makes more sense from a physical standpoint, but makes for merry hell with order and tracking...

8 ) I thought it had been ruled that it was 10% of current damage. But it relly doesn't make much difference either way.

9) You're asking that with a Shadows ship that loses a random arc, can you roll the dice, get a 3 and lose the "starboard" arc and therefore be unaffected? No. Just no.

Not only that but at some point in the rules they mention that some ships have that built in weakness of only on arc with weapons. They wouldn't state it as a weakness if it worked like this.

I have another question about Shadows, actually:
If they take a crit this turn, do they repair that crit this turn or repair it the turn after?

the end phase on the next turn after the crit was caused, so not this turn but next turn.

A better way to describe it is to say, "If a Shadow or Vorlon takes a critical hit in turn x, the critical hit is repaired in the end of turn x+1."

For those who don't know basic algebra, "If a Shadow or Vorlon takes a critical hit in turn 1, the critical hit is repaired in the end of turn 2. The 1 and 2 can be replaced with any two consecutive turns."

"End phase of the turn after which they are inflicted", describes it perfectly well IMO...

That may be case for many of us, but people still ask about it all the time so it isn't all that perfect.

I understand where you guys are coming from on this, but the wording in the Fleetbook leaves it a little vague and it does specify that this racial trait overrules the "No repairing Vital Crits" rule. That's why I asked.
