6inch fire zone

So what are you doing about templates. Or is everyone just going to measure. I could see using a half template to get the idea. but a foot radius template is going to be awfully big.

and point less !!!

just measure !!! how hard is that to do ?

Takes longer to measure than it does to plonk down a template though...
Maybe GF9 will make a template set for Evo?
1 Foot does seem huge for a fire zone though, they didnt used to be that for SST did they? I thought it was diamater originally?

6" radius 12"diameter

so template onlly needs to be a quarted and no longer than 6"

use the nuke templete from SST via GF9

or hold the tape measure at zero on center target and wiz it around in a circle to see whos in and out, we do this method as its faster than a template in practice.

What I mean is, why has the firezone doubled in Evo?
Its alright for the predominatly ranged warfare of BF:E, but if this is in effect in SST its going to get mental!

Because now instead of the firezone meaning saturation of an area with fire, in BFE is simply assumes that there is where your troops are focused on shooting at in general. It can mean well placed shots coming from elite trained soldiers, or a bunch of random fire from a dozen machineguns.

Also, there's a move in the evolution rules to have shooting be on a less individual basis, and integrating everything into one big roll. This is just like the change with lethal zone weapons, instead of doing some weird conversion, lethal zone weapons are now simply part of the fire zone.

Uhhmhm... This is the way it has Always been with SST... The firezones Are big... They have not doubled... I suggest you read your SST-rulebook again...

And even then, you are lucky to be scoring maybe 5-6 arachnids in it... So it is Not too big...

And units can easily spread out...

The big difference comes in that you can now aim at a point of ground, not just a model... and that Will give you an inch or two of extra range alone in the middle of the game, trust me...

Well actually, the default fire zone size in SST was 3", but most weapons had the autofire trait which raised it to 6".

All that the smaller fire zone did was make it be resolved first, and give the weapon something like the current sniper rifle ability where you're likely to hit the model in the center of the fire zone.

Entirly possible Im wrong, what with SST dying off I havent had much of a chance to play it of late, but I thought it was only the nuke template that was 12 in diameter.

I was just going to edit the same thing...

But beat me to it...

And yes, the majority of weapons either had Auto or were LZ weapons, all which translated to the 6" thing... which I have grown to consider as the norm if you dont count 'snipers' such as Arachnid Blaster and Blister bugs that only had a 3" radius... Which seemed to be more of a rarity than the norm...

Yeesh I had it stuck in my head i was using the bug central template for ages since that was the one listed as the 6 inch template in the box...
Always nice to learn something new :D
