Make everything in the room "Murphy". A Murphy bed that folds into the wall (or rises to the ceiling. Toilet does the same as does the sink and shower. You can add a table that folds down (and folding chairs that go in a closet). You can have a sliding wall or curtain that gives privacy when using the toilet or shower. An unoccupied room looks empty.

You can live comfortably in a single dTon, may people do it today. But, it does need to be well designed and you need to be able to get out of that space at least somewhat.
To survive in an enclosed space for long periods of time, you need social interaction, recreational activities and other ways to experience interesting or joyful things and events. Meals is a good area where interesting and favorite foods help keep someone happy. The social and recreational activities can be virtual but regular physical activity, even if it's minor, is required.
There are some rare people that mostly eliminate the social need and operate well on a small ship by themselves, but they still need stimulation in some manner and exercise so I would think the smallest space you could get away with is a 1 dTon barracks and a 1 dTon common area with a good quality entertainment system and some form of psychological testing and preparation before doing it. But a 4 dTon stateroom and 1 dTon common area should normally be the minimum.

Makes the bed a Murphy bed, add a Murphy table, combine the shower and toilet space to give more space in there and maybe allow the toilet to partially or fully retract into the wall. Good living in a small space.
